Our evening kicked off with seared Canadian scallops sitting on a velvety fennel cream and topped with a spicy chilli pangrattato, delivering a satisfying crunch. The polpette—succulent pork and veal meatballs swathed in a robust San Marzano tomato sugo—were next, proving a perfect match for the fluffy, artisanally crafted focaccia, made even more delightful with a swoosh of Caccio e Pepe butter.

The heat turned up with the tiger prawn pizza, zinged with fresh chilli and adorned with crunchy endive and creamy fior di latte—a true testament to the kitchen’s prowess. However, it was the Campanella pasta that stole the show. Its curls, drenched in a luxurious duck and Montenegro ragú topped with truffle Reggiano foam, had us all but applauding. To balance our feast, we opted for a side of wilted silverbeet with garlic. This leafy green delight proved both tasty and wise, grounding our otherwise indulgent evening.

Dessert was a foregone conclusion. While the tiramisú and daily cannoli tempted, the homemade vanilla balsamic gelato with macerated strawberries was non-negotiable, ending our night on a note of pure joy.

So, if your taste buds are yearning for authentic Italian cuisine with a side of beachfront atmosphere, pull up a chair at D.O.C's vibrant St. Kilda outpost. With its enchanting pizzas, divine pastas, and charming setting, it's an invitation to celebrate life, Italian style.
