Mr Charlie’s is already a hit in Sydney, thanks to its playful plant-based takes on fast food classics. Now, Melbourne’s foodies can try the famed “Frowny Meals,” featuring a burger, fries, nuggets, and sauce, all served in their signature red-and-yellow packaging. And let’s be honest—it’s the burgers that will keep you coming back.

What’s on the Menu?

The lineup includes the “Not a Cheeseburger,” a plant-based take on a classic, loaded with a juicy patty, vegan American cheese, pickles, ketchup, and mustard on a soft bun. Then there’s the “Not a Chickenburger,” featuring crispy, seasoned plant-based chicken, tangy mayo, lettuce, and pickles. Feeling extra hungry? Go for the “Big Mista,” which stacks double patties, plant-based cheese, onions, and their signature BIG Sauce for maximum flavour.

Beer Meets Burgers

CoConspirators Brewpub, a local favourite in Brunswick, is celebrated for its inventive craft beers and welcoming vibe. Their wide-ranging brews—from hop-forward IPAs to refreshing sour ales—are a perfect match for Mr Charlie’s menu. This collaboration is shaping up to be a summer highlight for Melbourne’s food scene.

The Journey to Melbourne

Getting to Melbourne hasn’t been smooth sailing for Mr Charlie’s. After a crash destroyed their first food trailer and a second one was stolen, it’s been a tough road. “This is the third time we’ve tried to get to Melbourne, but as they say, third time lucky,” said Lisa Chikarovski, owner of Mr Charlie’s Australia. “It’s been a wild ride, but we’re so excited to finally bring our food to Australia’s foodie capital.”

Food with a Mission

Mr Charlie’s goes beyond great food, they're part of a movement towards sustainable eating. They use plant-based “beef” from Impossible Foods and “chicken” from TiNDLE, showing that plant-based food can deliver on flavour and eco-friendliness. “We want to show Melburnians that plant-based food can be both delicious and planet-friendly,” added Chikarovski.
