CHANDON's Lavish Revamped Homestead in the Yarra Valley

1 / 9

There’s a certain kind of hush that falls over the Yarra Valley when you turn off the highway and into wine country — the sort of quiet that says, “take your time.” And nowhere leans into that feeling more than the newly reimagined CHANDON Australia Homestead.

Set amongst the vineyard’s lush lawns and landscaped Oak Garden, the Homestead has just been unveiled following a meticulous redesign, and it’s already being whispered about as the place for refined revelry.

Yes, the wine is excellent — it’s CHANDON, after all — but what sets this space apart is its masterful blend of elevated design and unpretentious charm. With room for up to 50 guests, the Homestead is designed for those who want the good life without the showiness: lush, but not loud; glamorous, but never garish.

At its recent media launch — a sun-drenched afternoon garden party that felt like a scene plucked straight from a Vogue Living shoot — guests were treated to freshly shucked oysters from the mobile maestros at Oyster Lux, and indulgent caviar bumps by the team at Yarra Valley Caviar. It was a scene that captured what the Homestead is all about: enjoying the finer things in life without needing to peacock about it.

The building itself carries over a hundred years of history, first as a farmhouse and later as part of CHANDON’s Yarra Valley estate when the winemaking house established its Australian roots in 1986. The recent transformation was led by Melbourne-based interior designer Melanie Beynon, who fused the structure’s heritage bones with contemporary design elements and a restrained palette of soft pinks and earthy tones — all nodding gently to the blush of a glass of rosé.

Inside, you’ll find The Greenpoint Lounge — perfect for sit-down lunches or intimate dinners — and The Vintage Room, a beautifully appointed tasting and boardroom space that caters to smaller groups. A wrap-around verandah spills out onto the lawn, overlooking the vines and the Oak Garden, making it a prime location for long lunches that melt into sunset.

But this isn’t just a design showpiece. The Homestead has been brought to life with over 20 collaborations from some of Australia’s most talented creatives, including custom lighting by Jordan Fleming, ceramics from R L Foote, and sculptural wall hangings by textile artists Emma Shepherd and Jacquie Lazzarotto. It’s not just curated — it’s considered.

On the experience front, CHANDON has introduced a new lineup of elevated offerings. The Étoile Experience is a private tasting of CHANDON’s most premium sparkling wines, paired with local cheeses and canapés, available for groups of up to ten. Then there’s Victoria’s Finest, a degustation experience featuring their single-vineyard Terroir range matched with standout Victorian produce — a tribute to the region, without veering into cliché.

For those plotting milestone birthdays, engagement dos, or simply looking for an excuse to round up the group chat for something a bit fabulous, the Homestead's Garden Party offering is just the ticket. Private access to the lawn and Greenpoint Lounge, paired with sparkling wine, seasonal produce, and relaxed service that doesn’t miss a beat? We’ll cheers to that.

As CHANDON Estate Director Susan Caudry puts it, the Homestead was designed to be a “welcoming and intimate space” — but that doesn’t mean it skimps on the wow factor. It’s rare to find a space that feels both luxurious and relaxed, but somehow, this one pulls it off.
