Owners Ishella Butler, Matt Roberts, and Nathen Doyle found their inspiration during the pandemic, when they realized the importance of supporting local businesses. Their latest venture serves as a testament to the vibrant Carlton community, showcasing delightful food, wine, and artisanal goods from their friends and neighbors.

As a true neighborhood hangout, Sunhands welcomes visitors with open arms. Whether you're craving homemade pickles and kraut, a "dippy eggs" breakfast, a quick seasonal salad for lunch, or a laid-back outdoor dining experience with a glass of wine, this spot caters to Melbourne's many moods.

Helmed by Head Chef Pat Drapac, the menu features thoughtful pairings of small plates, from Akimbo country sourdough with Chasney Estate EVOO to house pickled octopus, fried shishito peppers, baked ricotta with agrodolce, and oysters with mignonette. Sustainability is key, with all seafood sourced through Two Hands.atch Some Rays and Tasty Grazes at Sunhands

Sunhands proudly incorporates produce from Day's Walk Farm, Long Paddock Cheese, Sporadical City Mushrooms, and an array of ferments by Hobart's Rough Rice. The venue offers vegan and vegetarian options, as well as a variety of homemade, small-batch products to enjoy at home.

With an extensive background in cafés, specialty coffee, and wine education, Nathen Doyle curates Sunhands' wine program to highlight the stories of local producers and makers. A rotating selection of Victorian wines, including Doyle's own Upside Wine, is available for purchase.

Designed by Toby Hudson Carpentry in collaboration with Sans-Arc, the neutral venue serves as a canvas for showcasing the passionate artisans who inspire the Sunhands experience. Among these creatives are ceramicist Kelly Greenhalgh and local artist Poppy Templeton (Duck Ragu).

Sunhands currently operates from 10 am to 3 pm, Tuesday through Sunday. Plans for late-night drinking and a seasonal dinner menu are slated to commence later this Autumn. Discover this delightful new addition to the Carlton neighborhood for a warm and memorable experience!
