Camberwell's historic Palace Hotel is reopening in late August, unveiling a spectacular $7.5 million transformation that promises to delight both loyal regulars and curious newcomers alike.

Standing proudly in Melbourne's leafy inner east, The Palace Hotel has been an essential community hub for more than 130 years. The substantial investment from ALH Hotels, under the Endeavour Group umbrella, underscores a genuine commitment to both heritage and innovation. Partnering with design experts Cayas + Ward and builders Five One Group, they've masterfully blended historical charm with contemporary flair.

Upon stepping inside the revitalised venue, visitors will immediately notice the inviting atmosphere downstairs. With its laid-back warmth, the ground floor is designed to welcome casual gatherings, whether it's unwinding after work, enjoying live sports action, or simply soaking up live music. Classic modern pub dishes feature prominently, ensuring a satisfying bite accompanies every frothy beer or refreshing cocktail.

Ascending to the upper level reveals a fresh sophistication. Ideal for leisurely afternoons or intimate evenings, the upstairs area boasts carefully curated share plates crafted by Executive Chef Tony Moss, featuring top-tier produce and irresistible snack-sized dishes, including hand-stretched Roman-style pizzas. Complementing this refined menu, the drinks selection celebrates local excellence, spotlighting standout wines from South Australia and Victoria, alongside a vibrant cocktail menu with favourites like spritzes, margaritas, and espresso martinis.

The upstairs ambiance is further enhanced by the restoration of the building's original balcony—a charming spot perfect for watching the world go by while sipping something suitably chilled. Additionally, guests can explore the enchanting garden bar or book private functions in the newly unveiled space, accommodating up to 60 people.

Meticulous attention to detail during the renovation brought hidden historical gems to light, such as an original wooden staircase and heritage tiles, thoughtfully preserved to accentuate the building's authentic character. A particularly striking feature is the exposed internal spiral corner, offering an elegant glimpse into the venue's architectural heritage.

Paul Carew, Managing Director at ALH, sees this renewal as pivotal to the company's mission: revitalising Australia's pub culture through exceptional food and beverage offerings. The Palace Hotel stands as a proud example of this vision, carefully balancing nostalgia with contemporary hospitality.

Whether you're seeking a casual beer with mates, an elegant evening out, or a memorable function, The Palace Hotel's revitalisation promises to deliver memorable experiences across every floor. Camberwell's beloved local is not just back—it's better than ever.
