The Fitz restaurant in Fitzroy is a trendy restaurant in Fitzroy. With a more mature/sophisticated style than all the other hipster restaurants close by.
The ambience is warm and intimate, with seating options next to the fireplace or a cute romantic seat for two by the window. (We chose the romantic setting.) The staff were friendly and attentive.
Lexie and I just popped in to get dessert. She was craving creme bruleé while I was craving cheesecake. The waiter convinced her to get the sticky date pudding. It was delectable, had a rich sweetness and the cake was soft and moist. The sauce was amazing, and the combination of vanilla ice cream compliments the dessert.
The cheesecake was good, fresh berries on top with raspberry coulis drizzle. The cake itself was a little bit dry and floury. I prefer non-baked cheesecake, but I had to fix my craving for cheesecake, I couldn’t resist. I wasn’t overly disappointed, although maybe I should have listened to the waiter when he told me to get the chocolate cake instead.
